Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name, place, or other term entered in a search box is sent directly to the outside provider operating that tool. The provider processes the query and supplies its results. Chester County Criminal History does not keep or log those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
An email or other direct message may be retained long enough to review it, respond, and maintain an appropriate business record. It is not shared outside the organization unless disclosure is required by law.
Data We Gather Automatically
When a visitor loads a page, the site's systems may receive routine technical and usage details such as:
- The device's internet protocol address
- Browser type and version
- Operating system and device category
- Pages viewed and approximate time spent on them
- A referring website, when one is supplied
- The date and time associated with a page request
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files stored on a visitor's device. They and outside analytics services may be used to measure aggregate traffic, including which pages receive visits and where sessions end. A browser can be set to reject or remove cookies. Blocking them may change how some site functions behave.
What We Do With This Data
- Operating the site and monitoring page performance
- Routing a search query to the selected outside provider
- Understanding which Chester County record pages visitors use
- Diagnosing errors, abuse, and other technical problems
- Displaying advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Chester County Criminal History does not maintain, compile, or sell a database of individual criminal records. Its content directs readers to the Chester County Sheriff's Office, local courts, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation, Tennessee Department of Correction, and Tennessee Sexual Offender Registry. The site is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and information about a visitor is not assembled into a consumer report or another person's criminal-history file.
Third-Party Search Partners
Independent companies operate the search boxes shown on some pages. A query submitted through one of those tools is governed by that provider's privacy policy rather than this policy. The provider controls its retention, processing, and disclosure practices. Visitors should review those terms before entering information.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Chester County government pages, court resources, TBI, TORIS, the Tennessee Sexual Offender Registry, legal-aid sources, or independent search tools. Once a visitor leaves this site, the destination's privacy policy controls that visit. Its policy should be read before personal information is supplied.
An advertising provider may use its own technology to recognize activity across websites for interest-based advertising. That processing occurs under the provider's practices.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be disclosed to:
- A search provider that receives a visitor's submitted query
- Analytics vendors measuring traffic and technical performance
- Advertising networks serving content on the pages
- A court, law-enforcement agency, or government body when valid legal process compels disclosure
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable administrative and technical measures are used to protect information within the site's control. No internet transmission or storage method is completely secure, so absolute security and prevention of every unauthorized access event cannot be guaranteed.
Users Under 18
The site is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from a person under eighteen. If such information is identified, a request may be made for its deletion.
Your Data Rights
Applicable rights may arise under Tennessee law, including the Tennessee Consumer Protection Act, T.C.A. §47-18-101 et seq. Official Chester County records remain governed by the Tennessee Public Records Act, principally T.C.A. §§10-7-503 and 10-7-504, rather than this private-site policy. TBI's public criminal-history program operates under authority associated with T.C.A. §38-6-120. Subject to applicable law and the information actually held here, a person may:
- Request access to personal information held about that person
- Ask that inaccurate personal information be corrected
- Seek deletion where the law and retention duties permit it
- Object to or opt out of processing when a legal right applies
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised as the site's practices or legal duties change. The current version will be posted here, and its effective date will be updated when a revision takes effect.
